Welcome to 32-Dec-20!

And we are back to the snide and sarcastic Bernice. I wonder how many of those resolutions — to volunteer, to donate, to meditate or to exercise — will Bernice follow? From what we’ve seen the last few years the answer is none, none, none, and none. So get off Luann’s case and look to your own.

My oh my. What droll arcs are in store for us in the coming year? Maybe they will give us a hint tomorrow!

Bernice does not follow her resolutions. So she can get off Luann back.

I am wishing everyone a very Happy New Year (and be safe).

Based on the number of Summer breaks, Luann and Bernice will reach the age of 21 this year. Maybe Luann will earn her MRS Degree this year. Also,it looks like Bernice will sound proof her room.

Why does Bernice likes to sit on the floor? Is it warmer than sitting in her rent free room?

Wow! Did Luann clean her room? Where is the clutter?

M? (whistles “Hall of the Mountain King”)

Just use “M” as your mantra while you meditate, then, it’s not a big deal. Just kidding—don’t meditate at all. It’s not for everyone. And don’t listen to Bernice, because she’s…Bernice.

Happy New Year, citizens of the Luanniverse. May 2021 be a BIG improvement over the previous year.

That’s our Luann! So warm, so caring, so full of life. That smile!

Something to be said for realistic expectations (ones you might possibly, perhaps be able keep). And the little verbal tics, like the uummm, are something teachers try to remove from students in speech classes. The surgery is not always successful and can be quite painful.

If my that Luann means ‘less annoying’, I’ll take it.

I think, maybe, I’m gonna try to be a little more decisive this year. If that’s OK with everyone else??

Happy New Year. Just for the record, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, not that anyone would know the difference.

Luann has no goals or ambitions for the year or any year.

It’s a very difficult resolution. But if Luann succeeds, it would be a real turning point! What will Bernice’s resolutions be? Being more positive and sympathetic? Spend more time with Jack? HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!

Wait! I feel like we skipped a day! What happened to the empty space on the happy collage and Luann’s selfie? I expected a Happy New Year’s message! Even Luann is bored with her list. Sunday came on Friday!

A good start to pettifogging 2021…

I suppose that today is our warning to not expect much personal growth or achievement from Luann this year.

How about growing up and showing some maturity?

We start the new year with, perhaps, the iconic strip situation. Luann and Bernice BFFF’s (Best Friends Forever, FOREVER) in Luann’s room pondering the imponderables of life. Luann, afloat in her lofty perch atop her bed and Bernice, well grounded on the floor of life. Offering a minimum of dialog leading to even less lasting meaning/results.

Life is GOOD in Luann-i-verse! 8^ )

Luanns resolution should be to not have any resolutions. Once a flake always a flake.

Sorry if this is a repeat, I didn’t want to go through all the earlier comments: What is Luann’s second 2020 resolution? I can read “Try new lip color”, “Giggle less”, and “Boys?” Could it be “Paint dresser”? BTW, isn’t she getting a bit old for “boys”? Even if that is meant to include “young men”, a 20-year old isn’t supposed to be “boy crazy” like a 14 -year old can be!

Bernice and Luann are the two voices fighting it out in my head.

My resolution is to thin out my “favorite comics” list. After 12 years, I think I’ll start here.

And of course we must start the new year with Luann acting like an air-headed, brainless twit. G&K are nothing if not predictable. They cannot possibly allow Luann to keep any level of maturity, no matter how small or how long it took her to achieve it. Sad really. Sad and very disappointing. I keep hoping for better….oh well. :(

A half a day after today’s strip dropped I recall that Greg routinely made jokes about New Year’s Resolutions. And why not, people are always making resolutions that they will never, ever try to stick to. So today’s strip is the Nth iteration of a single joke that Greg has made for 35 years or so. Like Lucy and the football in Peanuts, it’s long since in need of retirement.

I don’t think “Boys” is a resolution. Working on relationships/establishing a relationship with a boy might be. And new lip color? Really? Who resolves to wear a new lip color? A tween, maybe. Sheesh. Please, let these kids grow up already.

If G & K were trying to make Luann look like a boring airhead, they could not do a better job….
