I call BS. St. Peter, despite his failings, is the very pillar of faith; when he got out of the boat and started drowning, smart money would have said, head back to the boat. Nope, Petey called out to the Lord to save him. Even when he denied Jesus three times – frankly under very trying circumstances- he still believed in the divine forgiveness.

No, I think Jerry Falwall and ilk will be condemned to call out the peoples’ sins while being forced to watch them stream past into the Pearly Gates. Especially all those terrorist inspiring and earthquake causing gays flip him the bird on their way in.

Who says he’s going to spend an eternity there? He’ll just stay there until the last person dies when the world ends, then he can close up.

No, it isn’t that way at all. That is the cartoon trope version. To New Jerusalem there are 12 entrances carved from giant pearls into the largest building to ever exist. (It will take a larger Earth to hold it since it is 12000 miles long, wide and tall. A promised New Earth.)
