The Woman went to a great deal of trouble and spent a large amount of time to make something (ostensibly to be eaten at some point) out of, as Puck points out, fragile components, and then leaves it completely unguarded and unsupervised on the counter.
Did she forget she has cats (again)? (Or children, for that matter!)
Why not just try to grow some plants in a pot inside the house (again)?
It looks a bit odd that Lupin’s speech bubble is behind the chart/drawing/photograph. Although I can’t really see how else that panel could have been drawn…
Hubby made 2 pies last night for the weekend. I advised him to put them in the microwave (turned off) to cool overnight. He scoffed at my concern they were potential cat beds. Love this strip!
First of all, have any of you ever know a cat to stop when you scream across the the room – “…No!…(cat’s name)…STOP!”
Second, the tart landing right side up, or upside down is directly in proportion to the value of the surface upon which it lands. In other words, imported Oriental Rug…Doomed. Linoleum floor…no problem.
Actually, my cats would respond/stop when I caught them at something and shouted across a room. They would know what they were doing wasn’t allowed (e.g., walking into the kitchen and seeing one on the counter).
I wonder if the Woman has been watching The Great British Baking Show? I started watching that a while back. It sort of makes me want to bake fancy things, but they do seem like a lot of work.
It doesn’t matter if it bounces or gets eaten, all that hard work disappears in seconds. I guess people photograph these artworks nowadays. I used to bake a lot but left the decorating to my wife.
Chicken Soup For the Soul Day: BCN certainly falls in that category. Under the present circumstances, we’d all like a double order.
Fancy Rat & Mouse Day: SQUEEEEEEEEE-EAK!!! Now rat and mouse toebeans …
National Pizza with the Works Day: We call it “garbage pizza”—scraps of everything. They specify “No Anchovies,” but forgot to rule out lutefisk or gefilte fish. They said nothing about Brussels sprouts or kale. What were they thinking?
National French Dip Day: Is French Dip anything like Sheep Dip?
I’ll admit that some French people can be rather dippy, and they do have a reputation as dipsomaniacs, but if your national beverage was wine, why not? Dipping a French person may be problematic, unless wine is involved. Still why a day honoring … … What? Oh, the sandwich! Well, it figures that the French would find a less messy and more elegant way of eating Italian Beef, the eating of which essentially results in getting dipped in the jus. Now, lest those of French persuasion think my remarks too saucy, it’s all in fun. Now tell me, what wine goes best with French Dip?
Happy Hour Day: I’m all in favor of extending “Happy Hour” to a full day. We have the crew of the USS Arkansas, BB-33 to thank for the term. This is highly appropriate, because the Arkansas got really bombed at Bikini Atoll in 1946 …
And it turns out that the best thing to drink with a French Dip is … Belgian ale …
Reminds me of the time my cat knocked the 2lbs of butter I was softening for my Christmas baking off the counter onto the floor where all 2lbs were eaten by my furry garbage disposal of a dog. That was OH so fun cleaning up that aftermath from his rumbly tummy.
Can any of you lovelies in the Orb direct me to a marketplace other than Amazon that sells BCN books, please? I am angry with Amazon and wish to support a different vendor- even if it means spending more money to do so. Thank you all in advance. And thank you all also for your kind words for the loss of our Uma.
Tonight Reboot got out again while we were bringing in the groceries. The tuna cans trick didn’t work, but sitting on the porch with a bite of chicken did. While I was waiting for Reboot to show up, I heard another cat talking that was much too loud to be Reboot. Then around the corner of the house came a beautiful Siamese cat. I’ve seen it around here for several days, occasionally hanging out on the front porch where we have a cat house and kibble and water. It seems to be not quite full grown or else is just very small, and quite brave. It doesn’t run very far when I drive up and get out of the car, just to the middle of the front yard. I talked to it tonight while waiting on Reboot and until it tells me differently, it’s name is Linux, or possibly FORTRAN. I left one chicken nugget in a tuna can on the front porch after I captured Reboot.

Goldie is obviously comfortable as a resident now. A cat worried about being tossed out wouldn’t be that mean.

Don McLean: American Pie
Bye, bye this American Pie
All created, decorated by the Woman, oh my!
But curios minds, they are gonna try
To see if it will bounce or fly
To see if it will bounce or fly!
…….
Did you roll out all the dough?
And did you want to show
Your baking skills to one and all?
Now did you leave your pie on the shelf
With the cat all by themselves?
And did you know cranberries do bounce?
Now I know there is an awful fate
As Goldie goes to investigate
There is a whole lot on her plate
Until the tart fell down!
We started singing
Bye, bye this American Pie
All created, decorated by the Woman, oh my!
But curious minds, they are gonna try
To see if it will bounce or fly,
To see if it will bounce or fly!

Tart stay up
Tart stay up, don’t let it drop
Stop the tart
Stop the tart, don’t let it flop
Puck, you better run & get the mop
Woman’s ticking, gonna blow her top
Stop the tart
Stop the tart, don’t let it drop
Never drop, never drop, you hafta stop
You make a grown woman cry
You make a grown woman cry
You make a grown woman cry
Spread the blame, share the shame
That’s not cool, won’t never be the same
Tart, stay up!
