Yeah. We pay lips service (some of us do) to the idea of freedom of religion, but the power structure is entirely behind the (pseudo) christian set of religions. At least partly because that feels good to them, but another part is that “christianity” can be twisted easily into a form that supports a kleptocracy: “Render unto Ceaser” etc.
Given that her religion requires her to defer to her husband, how on Earth can you NOT question someone up for becoming a judge? Put HIM on the stand!
More concerning, she is of that right-wing breed that refuses to accept science, either. She has openly questioned global warming and the nature of gender (she referred to “gender preference,” a right-wing approach that effectively enables the torture called “conversion ‘therapy’”), which should eliminate her as an ignoramus. Of course, that particular combination of ignorance is religiously driven, but so what?
Reading these comments, I may be able to understand the thinking of the individuals that drove by and shot up a families home in North Seattle because they were flying a Thin Blue line flag. Or the mob that broke out the tooth of the organizer of the Freedom of Speech rally in San Francisco. These and those individuals are so filled with hate that they cannot allow anyone to speak or even exist if they don’t agree with them.
The laughable attack that Republicans used was the Democrats were “anti-Catholic” while the presidential candidate is a practicing Catholic. I once heard Rushshsh Limbaughaughaugh (He pulled that one on Robert Reich.) even bring it up at the hearings for Uncle Clarence Thomas. Well, he’s been divorced and remarried, so I guess the rules don’t apply to him. Catholics aren’t supposed to be divorced and remarried, else they be excommunicated. The bottom line should be that religion is personal and should NOT be public policy, as my favorite (Catholic) Justice William Brennan showed. The prostrifers and such forget that Christ, in the Gospel reading yesterday, commanded the Pharisees to render unto Caesar what is Caeser’s and to God what is God’s. All that Ancilla (Handmaiden in Latin!) Barrett wants to do is make Catholicism a cult, as the Protestants used to think in 1928 and 1960. (I want credit for the name Ancilla, which I just posted on my Facebook.)

Will there ever come a time when there will be non religious leaders and judges of your country?

Don’t forget that the chances that a Judge that was openly an Atheist has zero chance of being elected. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Of course, we give the Jewish people a pass on that “no bacon” heresy.
