Why are they there?!? Don’t the major media usually cover huge train wrecks?

This guy’s ego is too big for planet Earth. Send him to Jupiter, it might hold him better.

I can’t understand why he isn’t being taken more seriously. After all, he’s brilliant, just ask him!

I thought the plot this week would return to Duke and his uninvited guest.

I’d rather have Pat Paulsen as forerunner.

I thought the plot would return to Duke, too, but I think GT is having too much fun drawing Trump’s hair.

“Doonesbury is one of the most overrated strips out there. Mediocre at best” - this Trump quote made the cover of “Give Those Nymphs some Hooters”

Trudeau has been poking Trump with a pointy stick since the 80s.

Garry is trying to ‘zing’ the reporters who are covering Trump and giving him attention, but his chastizing falls a little flat when Trudeau is covering him too.

The Donald is hilarious. His gaming of the media is no more (and no less) a publicity stunt than our president’s fake “open mike” stunt a few days ago, but at least Trump is honest about his silly bombast. Besides, how much worse a job could he do?

To state the (what should be) obvious, Donald Trump has as much chance of being elected president as did Dennis Kucinich.

If Trump is out there to try (for better or worst) to bring some issues before the consciousness of America then it’s all in the best tradition of American politics. However, if this proto-campaign is simply a display of egotistical self-indulgence, and he’s comfortably self-financing it, then it may demonstrate that Trump really isn’t paying too much in taxes.

I get the feeling, Lewreader, that you and I may not agree on much in the way of politics but I’m with you on this one. Any chance we could dig up Paulson’s body and run a dead guy for president? I think he would have a pretty good chance of winning!

The media are there because if even one were there, it would, ahem, trump the others.

As I said yesterday, no way is Trump running as presidential candidates are expected to make their tax returns public. Just a big ego trip from a fool who managed to run casinos into bankruptcy.

Nemesys - the difference is that Garry is putting a very satirical spin on the whole thing, while the media - at least the media I’ve seen - are treating the Donald with the same gravity or lack thereof that they bring to all of the other candidates. And while I appreciate your point, how can GT zing Donald’s “candidacy” without mentioning his name?

All 500 or so members of the media contingent in “The Village” (that’s the Washington DC Press Corps - VERY serious people you know..)

All 500 of them cried when they saw this today.

I’ve never even figured out just who he is supposed to be – another rich jerk with time & money on his hands. Nor have I ever figured out why anybody pays any attention to him at all. It’s like Paris Hilton running for prez. Does anybody know what these people stand for – besides making and blowing lots of money?
