Life evens out. And then it goes asymmetrical again to restore balance.

That’s some sound logic.

Isn’t it alot easier to enjoy a butterfly’s appearance?

Considering Marigold’s opinion of herself, doesn’t that mean that she herself portends the worst things imaginable?

Beagles portend a lot of noise, and fun.

In other words, it’s what statisticians would call “regression to the mean”. (“Mean” is a fancy word for “average”.) An exceptional event at one end of the spectrum will be followed by the next event closer to the average.

That’s the problem with portents and prophecies: they only work well in hindsight.

That means 2020 is one heck of a good omen!

The good, the bad, and the plain confusing!

Reminds me of an early “Dilbert” in which Dilbert won the lottery and then worried what fate would throw his way to restore balance between his joy and misery. He was then struck by lightning on a clear day. (As if Dilbert’s life were usually well balanced.)

Ain’t the butterfly. It’s what the butterfly sez. “Listen, don’t listen to me, listen quickly. The red bull took the unicorns, all of them long ago…and covered their footprints.”

I don’t portend to understand Marigold’s logic.
