I’m sure Wendy knows a thing or two, because she’s seen a thing or two.

Nitpick time. Physical therapists work with lower body strength, such as walking, balance, etc. Occupational therapists work with upper body strengthening (like Sarah being able to propel her wheelchair on her own) and doing activities of daily living. The strip from 3/19 used the terms interchangeably. Robb, I think you may need to get Sarah a physical therapist too.

If the point is to get her walking, she needs a physical therapist not an occupational therapist. The fields are related and interact but are not the same. The PT helps you with mostly orthopedic issues, range of motion, strength, pain management, walking, navigating stairs, etc. The OT works with more fine motor skills such as dressing, picking up and placing objects, bathing, and so on to help you perform daily functions.

Many things you can’t do easily in a wheel chair. Stairs are the big one.

Delray needs a therapist more than his mother does.
