Linus would have had to put his blanket down to use both hands in the human chain. Then again… maybe this was after he let the blanket go a bit. After all, we didn’t see it in the recent “Linus as substitute pitcher” strips, did we?
Besides Woodstock, Peppermint Patty, and Rerun; this period predates such additions as Marcie and Franklin, and Snoopy’s littermates (Spike and… ummm… Olaf? Belle? can’t really remember - was it seven including Snoopy?)
Of course the dewclaw serves a purpose. It helps the dog to run. Any problems with it come from degeneration of its original function thanks to man’s breeding.
yohannbiimu and LVJeff are correct on the characters 3, 4, and 5.
They made brief appearances in the strip (and the Charlie Brown Christmas TV special) since they were introduced back in 1963. Enjoyed the numerical jokes in those strips. :)

That’s what I call a tight grip.
I thought Snoopy was declawed.

When I saw the first 2 panels I almost thought it was 2 teams fighting for Lucy’s services. I’m glad to see that wasn’t the case.

Who on earth declaws a dog, pouncingtiger? Even declawing a cat is harsh and unnecessary. But a dog?

Dogs get declawed. You take off the dewclaws because they have a high tendency to get ingrown and serve absolutely no purpose.
Wouldn’t affect a dog’s ability to hold on to a tree, though.

Wow! A lot of the cast in this one.
Charlie Brown, Freida, the twins (can’t remember their names), Pigpen, Violet, Patty, Shermy, Lucy, Schroeder, Sally.
Who’s that in there between Sally and Schroeder? Is that 5?
yohannbiimu about 13 years ago
I think the kid between Sally and Schroeder is “5”.
yohannbiimu about 13 years ago
I think that he should have plugged “Charlotte Braun” in there somewhere. Well, maybe not, because she looked a little like Freida…
LVJeff about 13 years ago
I think the twins are 5’s sisters, 3 and 4.
