I’m assuming you are stating a position regarding responsible pet ownership. However, most people do not take kindly to being hit over the head, grossed out, disgusted and angered while reading comics. Remember that old saying about flies and honey?

If you grew outraged and railed about this imaginary box of kittens as if they were real and there was some sort of violence done to them or fabricated an involved scenario whereby I am some kind of sadistic monster then you have failed the test. This is in reality a drawing, a collection of inky scribbles on paper. There is no substance nor matter to it beyond the media and the substrate. There is no storyline other than the one you have concocted with your own imagination, twisting it into a fevered dream of your own making. I simply took a familiar concept and turned it upside down in your perception. That is what a cartoonist does. Excuse me while I go pet a real kitty.
SORRY the good people protesting here have not failed any test of your concoction. You have failed to realize how your cartoon would affect people, how it would make them feel and what bad memories it might evoke. There are other ways to make a statement – this one does not work on any level.
I’m fine with it. One of my most fave pix ever is the one where some wag put a “Free Cat” sign next to a road-kill cat. Hilarious! In order for humor to work, it has to refer to things that happen to us in real life. It’s not always pretty. To some, it won’t be funny. To others, it will. That’s life, folks

Farmer: Oh yes, the, uh, the Russian Blue…What’s,uh…What’s wrong with it?

Farmer: No, no, ’e’s uh,…he’s resting.
