Sedine your gonna need a new outfit, how about something with feathers so these little guys will think you’re their mama? XD (I’m betting she’ll probably get attacked by the real mama in this arc)

Well now that they have permission to soil Sedine’s dresses we might see a lot of her wardrobe since I bet she’ll have to change a lot. The least these guys could do is aim for her head, I hear that’s good luck.

I have a robin’s nest over the downspout under the eave right next to the front door. Really an ideal location. I haven’t been pooped on (yet) but I have been scolded for coming out the front door. Baby robins started showing up on the front yard last week.

That’s a lot of poop dripping from that nest. I wonder how long those babies have been there?

Ow will make quick work of them.

We had a couple of ducks enjoying our pool last year, a mallard and his sweetie on sabbatical from the nearby Arcadia Arboretum pond while it was being serviced. They were acting very hungry, so we gave them a daily bowl of nutritious hookbill pellets that we had left over from our cockatiel. I have never seen so much bird poop accumulate around our pool in such little time. We had to stop feeding them, or our loyal poolman even threatened to go back to Guatemala.

When I owned a farmhouse in Maine long, long ago I was fascinated by watching barn swallows build their nests. It seems impossible that they could get them to stick to the walls or the roof, much less than they could actually bear weight.

Sedine’s are cartoon birds so the rules don’t apply, but barn swallows will hardly ever build in the direct sun. The nests are twigs and grass as well as clay, in the same way that humans add reinforcing rods to concrete for added strength and integrity. Real baby birds excrete capsules which are easily removed by the parent.

Now and again in the winter one of the nests would break away and fall the 50 feet or so to the barn floor. They didn’t shatter, and they were like pottery only more resistant to my attempts to break them apart. There was no sign of excrement inside, only a finely interwoven lining of threadlike dried grass. Really awe-inspiring.

We have a family of these birds where I live in Georgia. The adults are on their second brood of this year. They are prolific poopers!

Yeah, that’s pretty much all they do, I’m sorry to say. I have the robins continually building nests underneath some corner of the front porch roof every year. No matter how many times I have tried to knock their efforts down when they start building, they will just start right in again with even more determination. I will tell you that they can build a nest in a VERY short time if they are determined enough. All I have to be is gone to work for 8 hours and they’ll have a full nest built. If the nest is done, then I won’t disturb it because chances are there’ll be eggs in it by that time (I speak from experience… o_O)

I have birds that build nests in some of my fruit trees. The trees have these huge sharp spikes everywhere and these birds can fly back and forth build a next at speeds that are blinding and they never hit a spike. It is amazing.
