Medic Rover and infantryman Red have a long, hard day ahead of them. Indeed, “The Longest Day.” But rest assured, boys: Your courage and sacrifice on behalf of freedom-loving people everywhere will long be remembered.
I always remember that the U.S.S. Meredith(III),D.D. 726 hit a mine on June 8, 1944, off of Normandy, and broke her back. I served on U.S.S. Meredith(IV) D.D.890, named in her honor.
Great story about D Day on Netflix. It gave Germans side as well . 14000 allies died on DDay ,6000 Germans and thousands of civilians. A very deadly day for all mankind!
‘THE LONGEST DAY’ is on TCM tonight at 8:00 EDT time. If you have never seen this one it shows it from both sides, identifying who the actors are portraying, and from what I have heard is pretty close to accurate. It’s a long movie but it is worth watching.

Wasn’t that the mailman ringing with a new shipment of milky bones? I see you didn’t pack MY supplies.

From mom’s kitchen you mean, Rover! Today’s clip reminds me that my dad was a medic in WWII and earned a silver star. Thanks Brian for remembering.

That is an enemy tactic, Rover. Keep your head down.
