Calvin lives in a very interesting neighborhood. There are sidewalks and buses on school days; and other days there are streams, fences, ditches and so many other challenges. If he doesn’t grow up to be an astrophysicist, maybe he will be a Navy SEAL. Probably not a baseball player. Guess we’ll never know what’s in his future, because, sadly, he will never grow up. Maybe someday Mr. Watterson will give us his opinion.
I’ve been reading this strip daily for something like 30 plus years at this point and the longer I read it the more I come to appreciate Waterson’s artwork. Each of this panels really conveys the emotion and speed that Calvin, from the angles of his arms and body, to the looks on his face to the dust clouds behind him. Really well thought out and brilliantly executed. Everyone raves about Bushmiller but to them I say “Pffft, check out Waterson”

I think Calvin may be right on this one…If you have to run a marathon to get to first base, then the bases may be too far apart!

The placing of thirty-third base is what bugs me.

Apparently the bases are too far apart at Yankees Stadium, at least for the Rays and Astros.
