“I’ll see your negative and raise you a double negative.”

Best way to get customers to ante up.

This is a great one to use for logic class. Not only does it have a triple negative, but the “only if” reverses the conditional. “If you get your money back, then you are not incompletely unsatisfied”. I wonder if the author meant to do this.

I would never fail to deny the failure of an author to mean the opposite of what he said.

I think that’s what I mean to say.

@bmonk- I would never dispute your disclaimer to deny the failure of the author not to say the exact opposite of what he meant. I meant what I said, and I do not doubt that I said what I meant.

“If it was so, it could be and if it were so, it might be. But, as it isn’t, it ain’t.” That’s the quote from Alice in Wonderland as near as I can from memory (which isn’t as good as it once was).

I’m not the type to take things back, usually. But I bought kitty litter that was supposed to be perfume and dye free. If I smelled it, it would cause a fit of coughing from overwhelming perfume smell.

Target took it back, and I can breathe freely with the new perfume free litter.
