Whatever one thinks of McCain’s political philosophy or the policies he supported, no one could question his patriotism and loyalty to his country and, in his refusal to accept early release from torture in a POW camp ahead of those who had been detained longer, and his refusal to participate in false rumors against Obama while campaigning against him, proved his moral integrity.
McCain was an outspoken critic of Putin, and was harsh in his brutal criticism of how Trump subverted U.S. interests in Helsinki.
In terms of patriotism, courage, moral integrity, respect from others and even the size of their hands, there is no area in which Trump measures to an infinitesimal fraction of McCain’s stature.
The only place where Trump exceeds McCain in size would be ego, vanity, treason and corruption.
Per the Wall Street Journal (there’s a paywall, of course), “Mr. Trump resisted*, and viewed the news coverage of the former senator’s death as over-the-top and more befitting a president, according to people familiar with the situation.”
