Another conserve’s simplistic view of the law. Cohen would have much more to lose by lying to the courts than lying to the public. An acceptance of his confession would have to be backed up by overwhelming evidence. And now David Pecker has been granted immunity, which indicates that he also has something more damaging to the Rump. Keep it up Mr. Varvel (and Mr. Kelly) your comics are going to be the joke in itself.

Except that if he lies to prosecutors, he’ll get the worst possible sentence! Conservatives seem to selectively forget that Cohen is a lawyer and knows exactly what would happen to him if he submitted false testimony.

Varvel, remember that Cohen was hand picked by YOUR GUY and was his personal lawyer and fixer for years.

And YOUR GUY also specifically picked all the other felons convicted so far.

We don’t care why Cohen is coming clean, we only care that long time Trump loyalist Cohen is telling the truth. We certainly won’t get that from Trump.

Contrary to the implication of Gary’s cartoon, Cohen has made no deal for a lighter sentence.

I will concede — though this is clearly not what Varvel is suggesting — that Cohen is hoping that by telling the truth he will avoid an additional sentence… for perjury.

“For a reduced sentence, I’ll tell you whatever you want to hear about Trump.”

If true, that’s good, since the investigators and the court want to hear, “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth”. Real truth, not Giuliani-“truth”.

No way Mueller is going to believe Cohen at face value, Mr. Varvel. He is not a Devin Nunes or Trey Gowdy that go on real witch hunts.

Now, Varvel, can you draw Trumpski with an entire forest growing out of his face?

Which truth is Trump is saying isn’t truth. Any truth that isn’t his, believe me.

Crooked Cohen does not have to lie,

the FBI has all of his records detailing his business with liar Trump.

Mueller wouldn’t give Cohen any deals for evidence that would be impossible to try to verify. So Cohen has little incentive to invent and a lot of incentive to be truthful. His testimony by itself would be about as useful as this suggests. Far more likely that he’s telling the truth.

Durn good thing that Cohen’s testimony isn’t the only single piece of evidence that shows Trump is a lying, cheating, scheming crook, a man unfit for ANY public office.

No prosecutor will bring charges without enough evidence to make it stick. A “story” from Cohen would not be enough. I’m sure there is enough hard evidence to put a lot of people in jail.
