I vaguely remember BtS shopping with my mother. It involved some new pencils, a tablet or three (pads of paper, not electronics), index cards, new set of clothes with extra shirts and probably new shoes. That was about all any year took. What it took from my parents’ bank account I can’t say as I was only consulted on finances when I wanted something ridiculous.
A few year ago, I went back to university. I had twice the age of the other students. It was my honour to enjoy all the above emotions myself for few years.
While the corporate big wigs get their extra bonuses due to the big Republican Tax break, there will be some kids whose parents can’t afford to buy them the essentials for school, so the underpaid teachers will have to fill in the gap. MAGA.

Don’t forget the bullet proof backpacks.

It will be very hard to bring back jobs to America because no one in America knows how to do anything but ask"do you want fries with that?"

When I was kid (geezer memory alert!) about all we got for the start of school was a new pair of shoes and a pencil box.

This is just too accurate! And even worse for the poorest parents

Parents are responsible to get supplies for the classroom because we as a society no longer care about our children or our future.

I’m old enough to remember when back-to-school “supplies” weren’t expected to be fashion statements or status symbols.
Or was that just the “neighborhoods” I grew up in?
