    How sad.

At one time, Japanese soldiers were executed for waterboarding American soldiers. At that time, waterboarding was considered torture.

Now Americans waterboard captured brown people convicted of NO crimes, and the practice is now considered not torture, but just a punch line.

BTW, the rest of the world still views waterboarding as torture, and Americans as torturers. Welcome to the Dark Ages.

Joe.Hilbig - A return to the Dark Ages is exactly what the cult of Islam desires. Using interrogation techniques from that period to forestall their barbarity would seem to be a delicious irony. I’ll save my sympathy for the women and children blown into pieces by the “noble Islamic warriors” seeking martyrdom and virgins.

@pouncingtiger: Mr. Cheney’s first name is “The”.

@ Joe. : Also save some sympathy for the women and children blown into pieces by American bombs in the invasion of Iraq. Oh! And maybe save a little sympathy for America’s “moral authority.”

Shoe is a political strip. One of the main characters is Senator Batson D. Belfry, how can anyone decry comments that are political?

Fishstix… I’m with you! Let’s help as many Islamic warriors get to their virgins as quickly as we can and the sooner the better! Can you imagine having 70 women around all the time? And they call that paradise?

It’s hard to imagine so many people so eager to become that which they so despise.

Joe, I firmly agree with you. We’ve become what we despised! Well, some of us have. Well, reading the rest of the ‘contributions’ here, it seems that most of us have.

There are kooks in EVERY religion. ESPECIALLY christianity!! But traditionally, islam was the most tolerant of religions. The only place where christians jews and muslims ever lived together and got along IN PEACE was in Moorish Spain when the MUSLIMS were running the place. Then the christians came back and it all went to hell! And in fact, the jews moved over to Constantinople because the muslims were more tolerant of them than the christians were.

And the reason I didn’t capitalize ANY of the above ‘faiths’ is because I’m just NOT religious AT ALL!!

chrismaple, you make my point. You seem to have accepted torture as a legitimate tool of power.

But torture does not accomplish what you claim to be it’s aims, and it’s use is therefore to terrorize a population or to punish.

And effectiveness doesn’t trump legitimacy. Torture is never justified. There are national and international laws that recognize that. The US used to at least pretend to understand that, but your comment shows how far you have fallen.

And by, “behave badly toward the US,” you must mean that they resist having their resources stolen, their governments overthrown, brutal dictators installed and supported, their civilians murdered, their infrastructure and culture destroyed all by the US.

Yes I am biased - against any country violently manipulating the rest of the world in support of the wealthiest 1/10%.
