Jon isn’t actually in any trouble. Liz is just letting him think he is for fun (well, fun for her and Garfield).

Apparently whenever Jon gets nervous, it makes his hair mess up a little.
Liz apparently finally realized what she has gotten herself into with Jon. He’s doomed!
