She’s renting a California apartment on a minimum wage warehouse store job? Soon she’ll know another new thrill, “not having enough money to cover your expenses”.
I am disappointed in Dana’s character. Do not get me wrong… the arc is interesting and entertaining and Robb’s writing and drawing of it are great! I just mean that philosophically, I find Dana to be quite a disagreeable sort.
I mean, come on, she is rich…. but she wants to disown her family… so instead she takes a stocking job at a big box and uses the money to rent an apartment to feel “independent”. But, the reality is she is just play acting at all this, just like the homelessness. She knew/knows that if push came to shove… she could walk away from homelessness… or walk away from the job/apartment any time she chooses. Now, if Dana were to actually want to grow up some and mature some, she could instead decide to live a meager existence of her choosing from her riches, and use the rest to try to do “good” in the world.
Again…. the story is great. I am just commenting on Dana herself, as a character.
It’s obvious that Dana needs counselling to help her plot her destiny. There are probably many many people who are currently in her same position…..i.e. The many ordinary citizens who are poverty stricken yet win a major lottery prize and attract a lot of scam artists. They all need help to chart a better life.
Not everyone who suddenly realizes she is richer than she thought is obligated to look after ‘the rest of the world’…so to speak…She ‘herself’ should become her ‘improvement project’ for the year.

In San Francisco a family of four with an annual income of $117,000 is considered low income. Good thing she’s in another part of the state.

So this Dana, Marcus and Marcy all hate money. Is the author trying to tell us something???
