Lyon Trivia: Although the main character in this comic series (Brewster Rockit) is a dim bulb himself, many of the other cast members (aliens, villains and occasional regulars) aren’t particularly Einsteins themselves.
The flat tax is a scam and a cheat. It’s just another way for the 1% to avoid paying taxes.
We pay taxes on income. Most 1%er’s don’t earn income the way the rest of us schlubs do. So their tax gets deferred or otherwise reduced or eliminated.
There is no such thing, never will be a straight, flat tax on every penny anyone/everyone makes. The flat tax is a dodge, to make the ignorant feel as if the rich is paying their share. They’re not.
@MEATPUPPET: I know it sounds crazy, but, for some people, this is a way of saving, and it’s the only way they know how to save. No matter what they might promise themselves otherwise, they spend everything each paycheck.
It doesn’t “sound crazy” if you understand about saving money with too little you have. Like putting it with the govt then getting it back without any interest.

Very appropriate description of the “flat tax”, Pam.

If it really was a flat tax, the 1% would also be flat broke.

They should have their money in off shore accounts. You can’t get much more offshore than them.

Does anyone else purposely overpay their taxes to get a nice fat refund every year?

If the people elected to certain positions had to exist on the national minimum wage with no expenses like the rest of us, things would be different.
