Looking back at yesterday’s strip — I have to wonder now — did Andy Johnson fire Stanton face-to-face? Or maybe he just announced to some nearby busybody, then hours later, sent the Secretary a telegram…
I always appreciate the inherent humor in having our Presidents of the Past discussing current events. We see simultaneously how far we’ve come while not changing at all.
The wall is a joke. It will NEVER be built. Period. Of course, TRUMP is a joke as well. Not to mention being a traitor and a Russian patsy owned and operated by Vlad Putin.
I must disagree with Lucretius. If the walls the Israelis build against the Palestinian people and the former Berlin wall are to be considered, then talented graffiti artists can transform the oppression of “nothing” into beautiful political statements.
The “First Draft” as Jefferson refers to it, is the ultimate expression of the totally simplistic mind of our current “president”! Once he’s ‘expressed’ himself with the adjectives “big” and “beautiful” he’s exhausted his verbal repertoire!
A solid wall with a bas relief in a simple Etruscan columns narrowly spaced (painted in regional colors and thus honoring Freda Kahlo) and topped with full spectrum day and night cameras. Breach secured and thus not to be marred by offensive repairs of grill like fences, plus we can see the fireworks factories exploded before every Fourth of July.

‘Course, the Chinese did similar, several centuries ago, on a scale so large that is visible to the naked eye from the Int’l Space Station 300 km above. It failed to keep out anybody in the long run. The Chinese survived the Mongols not by defense, but by assimilation.

Jefferson’s wine-sipping architectural critique is pretty good. He could have had a great backup career after the presidency.

NIAGRA meets the definition of ‘a big beautiful wall’. And it already sits on our Northern Border. AND the Canadians furnish the water.

When will see the conclusion of the Impeachment Hearings of President Andrew Johnson? I REALLY want to know how it ended. (Sarcasm)

In the words of LRB – Down on the Border
“They built a wall at the borderNot to keep us outBut to leave no doubtThey’re out of order, hey”
“And all the people who are trapped withinServe to show just how far we’ll goAnd how dumb we’ve been”
