I thought the GOP was all about small government. Which government bureaucracy will be responsible for food distribution?

The irony here is that a large part of Trump’s base depends on government assistance. Let’s see how they like standing in line for canned food like beggars in a ‘Sh*th*le’ country. Nah, I’m sure they’ll find a way to blame Obama’s birth certificate and Hillary’s emails for their predicament.

Something has to be done, trump and the gop. They are getting way to bazaar. They don’t give a damm about the USA their only concern is the 1% that is really governing us. Musings from a former Republican.

I do not believe that Trump’s plan covers the part about how to deliver the food boxes to the poor. He has no concept of how to balance a healthy meal. What’s going to be in those food boxes? Quarter Pounders and fish sticks?? With fries?? And chocolate shakes?? That’s what he considers a balanced meal. Maybe he figured since he can get his McDonald’s orders delivered to the White House, he can have McDonald’s deliver to 6 million people on a daily basis.

What an opportunity to profit from what would have been thrown out due to expiration date, etc. Anyone remember the Spanish American war? Where the enemy were, according to many, the meat packers.

Republicans and their welfare for the rich are extremely unfair to people to people with actual needs whose programs are being cut by Republicans.

All this whining. Amazing. From the same people who supported the utterly insane school lunch rules created by Mrs. Obama.

By going to a “one package fits all” this ignores the needs of those who have food allergies. So humane, this sheet-heads!

Now comes President Trump, with the meanest and dumbest approach to food stamps in recent memory. Trump’s budget proposal, released on Monday, calls for replacing half of the monthly cash benefit for most recipients with a Department of Agriculture food box containing “shelf-stable milk, ready-to-eat cereals, pasta, peanut butter, beans and canned fruit, vegetables, and meat, poultry or fish.”

Article by Michael Hiltzik, Feb. 13 LA Times. Sorry, I can’t give the link from my tablet.

Lots of people have sometimes fatal allergies to peanut butter. Or are lactose intolerant, etc. etc. Hiltzik cites studies showing present food stamps etc is better.

Someone has decided it is better to kill the poor so they cannot eat the rich.

Could you, in your finite wisdom, please enlighten us as to what exactly was “insane” about the school lunch policy? If you can stop saluting statues of Robert E. Lee long enough to type a bit more?

I hope Jeff Bezos wins the contract to deliver the “harvest boxes.” Those smily boxes would do wonders to lift the spirits of the poor…

Here is the link to the article by Hiltzik I mentioned above.

    http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-food-stamps-20180213-story.html

USDA rules already prohibit using food stamps for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco, food to be eaten in the store or precooked hot items. The agency traditionally has counseled against imposing further restrictions on food stamp purchases. USDA data generally show that the diets of food stamp recipients are essentially identical to everyone else’s. “Food stamp recipients are no more likely than higher income consumers to choose foods with little nutritional value,” the USDA reported a decade ago. “Thus the basis for singling out low-income food stamp recipients and restricting their food choices is not clear.”

One of the biggest factors in obesity in the US is MALNUTRITION! This program to only provide pre-pachaged “food”, with no option to buy fruit, vetetables or real foot, just adds to the disaster. There IS a factor that so many people receiving food stamps don’t really know how to prepare or cook raw foods into meals, the same is also true for a very large proportion of Americans who do not have economic limitations, just too lazy, or stupid, to cook.

I doubt that the Rump even thought this up. He was just going along with the GOPers. It has repubs’ fingerprints all over it. You know they don’t want the poor to use food stamps to buy lobsters.
