You know that Trump is going to say that it’s good clean coal. That global climate change is a myth and we don’t have anything to do with it. So what’s he going to do when he has to live with a mask covering his face just so he can breathe? Do you think he’ll blame that on Hillary and Obama?

“Wall Street is soaring.” Cool. Let me check my portfolio. Hmmm. Still nonexistent. At least we can see the air again.

The statements in the two balloons are tightly linked. Runaway capitalism and the end game of “thinking in money”, wherein everything is converted to money, lead to those horrific consequences.

From what I can tell, the money people consider those results to be bonuses.

Funny, but Wall Street was “Soaring” in the first couple of weeks in October, 1929, too…

Wall Street was “Soaring” but working people’s wages have been stagnating for the past couple decades. How does any of this help the American people again?

Wall Street is soaring and pollution has increased with repealing regulations. The CEOs have got tax cuts and Corporations have got their way in Congress. So why don’t the American people get anything? We get the pollution clean up and price increases. America is great again, for the people it was already great for.

Global warming is soaring, coal is the biggest offender.

Fortunately the real people who run American energy turned down unanimously Perry/Trump’s idiot coal program.

@JLOCKE let me give you a place to start your research. Try Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring. Try entering the search parameters history of pollution in the United States and authors on that subject. I’ve lived too long to give you all of my examples in this forum. The formation of the EPA and their mandate to enforce the Clean Air and Water Act saw a great Improvement on the pollution in this country. Now that the EPA is being gutted and cut back and suffering from budget cuts it no longer has the power to enforce the Clean Air and Water Act. We’re already seeing the results of that in the increased pollution through mismanagement of waste, mismanagement of Water Resources. The rise in birth defects as a side effect of pollution. Oh yes……. don’t let me forget that myth about global climate change by humans who leave a humongous footprint on our habitat Earth……. It surely can’t be climate change that’s causing all these uncommonly frequent 200 year hurricanes to happen every two or three years now. Don’t forget the extra drought conditions that are affecting this country. Don’t forget the super storms that are affecting this country. Don’t forget the largest fires in the country happening to the largest of areas of our habitat that we’ve haven’t seen in centuries.

If you’re really interested J Locke, there has been a lot written about it, of course, you might just be too lazy to do the research for yourself and expect everyone else to do it for you. I do know that you present a very arrogant facade and I know that arrogance precludes learning. Maybe before you demand references, you might work on that personality problem because you will not learn from anything we have to say to you.

@"jlocke"… You are being short sighted and myopic and you know it. My life is fantastic. I run a thriving global business (and am personally very heavily regulated by the federal government, as are all of my colleagues). I have a great wife, very successful adult children who (I’m proud to say) have degrees from Ivy League universities, a beautiful home, cars, and, unlike most posters here, I have enough money to be free from financial anxieties. I sleep well, eat well, have great health, climb mountains on a weekly basis, ski, travel, etc. After a lifetime of entrepreneurial ups and downs, I am living the dream.

But this dream depends on a whole bunch of gifts I have been fortunate to have received from my parents and my country. President Obama was right. I both did and did not build this myself. Countless public servants have helped, from my public school teachers to the cops on the beat. From courts that enforce contracts to the general honesty of people in our country. From the scientists and technologists who work for clean air and water to the FAA that manages air traffic control. On and on I am thankful for the social, economic and political structure that has allowed me and my family to thrive. I’ve also had a lot of luck!!!

So “jlocke” when you to crow about tearing all this down, and demand that people give you examples of the evil that now befalls our country, you really get my dander up…which, I guess makes you happy. America is a big country. The changes wrought by trump and the regressives will likely get rolled back over time. But, those changes also take time to produce meaningful consequences. Your demand for examples is like asking someone to watch the hour hand of a clock. It moves at a slow pace, but it moves. Inexorably.

As to a specific example of my personal experience with the evil afoot in our land, my mom and sister live in Charlottesville. They know what’s happening in their town and are part of the effort to stop the hate.
