The fully entrenched political parties no longer even pretend to listen to what the people really want. Touching the third rail is not a problem when the power (We the People’s will) is turned off.
As a matter of fact, on December 4, 2017, USA TODAY published and article announcing the Feds had issued an order to seize guns from 4,000 people who failed background checks, but were able to purchase weapons anyway.
Wait, I thought Obama was going to take everybody’s guns away? He never did, of course, and never would’ve, but, you see, he happens to be black, and to a certain portion of this country that’s what made the difference. Now, however, the same certain portion is scared that white folks will take away their guns. They won’t, of course, but this certain portion of the country is not to be confused with Isaac Newton…….

Saw a segment on TV of a very angry demonstration against Eric Holder — for being anti-gun.
Some of the demonstrators were asked why they thought Holder was anti gun. What exactly, led them to believe that?
.
Predictable result. Every demonstrator asked was really, really angry about Holder. When asked why, the first response was a surprised and confused look, like how could anyone even ask?
But none of them had an answer. Every response was a variation of ‘Well, I don’t have all the facts, but he just IS! And everybody knows it!’
.
Tiniest bit of embarrassment about not being able to answer the most basic question? Not so’s you’d notice.
The idiot doesn’t care about losing his Medicare and Social Security as long as no one takes his guns. After all, he has to protect the important things.
Social (in)Security is a government run shell game. A negative return on your “investment.” The S&P has made about 11% per year since its founding. If it actually thought about it, the government would realize this and allow us to invest our money into that market in approved funds that are strictly monitored.
Alas, the elected politicians and the bureaucracy is too stupid, corrupt, broken, and inept to figure this out.
And while we fiddle with psychology, sociology, philosophy and politics, Rome burns. Socrates (to skip to another culture) talked a lot and reasoned well, but they still made him drink the hemlock. I’m afraid if we can’t come up with appropriate action……well, I can feel the flames at my back already.

You gotta hand it to them for this. Their diversionary tactics work great on the blindered illiterate Repugs who have no mind of their own.
