So what if our coastal cities will be underwater in the next 60 or so years. Look at the bright side. We have open shipping in the Arctic Circle in the summer now and in 60 years or sooner we’ll have it year round. Of course we’ll have to figure out what to do with all the displaced Americans and reduced arable land due to desertification (already occuring in west Kansas). But hey, at least there’s no such thing as Global Warming, The ’muricon guvment says so.
The #1 C)2 emitter China total 7710.5 million tons, but only 5.8 million tons/person
The #2 emitter US 5.424.53 million tons 17.67 million tons/person
India, the #3 in CO2 emission, clocks in at 1.38 tons per person.
Saudi Arabia, Australia, Singapore, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Gibralter and Luxembourg emit more per person than the US.
BTW, nothing in the Paris accord was binding on us. It was mainly to coordinate actions globally—-and we’re no longer a force for any global actions, thanks to the Trump administration.
The conservative (apolitical small ‘c’) action would be to prevent a crisis … not pretend it doesn’t exist and let it overwhelm us by inaction. Switching to renewable energies, besides creating jobs, would even lower Antiquetracman’s energy costs and cleanup his air and water letting him live longer so he could express his opinions that much longer.
antiquetracman, the US was the leader in creating the CO2 problem by burning at least 25% of the world’s total. Then companies moved manufacturing to China, now adding more fossil fuel burning for the transportation to the US. The US should therefore be the leader in fixing the problem. However, China’s renewable energy is double what the US produces. India has made great strides in renewables as well. Funny how so many Americans claim the US is a leader until it comes to doing something that is beneficial to all.
@ANTIQUETRACMAN: stop referring to patriotic fellow Americans as “demon rats.” It is insulting and false.
And pretending that this isn’t everybody’s problem is simply idiotic. China is mobilizing rapidly not only to eliminate their coal plants, but taking over the green tech business by developing solar power plants.
Know where all the technology was developed for solar power? HERE. Why aren’t we the leaders? Because Reagan and the GOP killed research funding for it. So now Germany and China are raking in the money.

But the business opportunities abound for selling drinkable water and oxygen tanks … just like Avondale is doing now with niacin.

Republicans deny reality and demand the world use more coal, so they can get more bribes from the Koch’s.

Republicans just want to have a good quarter profit before they destroy the earth for eternity.

Of course the Arctic ice isn’t the real problem, it’s terrrestrial ice, like Greenland, Antarctic, and continental glaciers that are disappearing.
