Guy walks into a church fires off a few hundred rounds at the congregation and 45 says he is mentally ill. Wow, what insight, thank you for your wisdom! Now about his ability to be able to fire that many rounds in such a short period of time……
The was against gun violence is over. After Columbine, Sandy Hook, and now Texas, the NRA has announced that killing children is perfectly fine. Civilized people have no answer to that sort of mental illness.
If it’s a mental health problem, why is Washington working towards making getting mental healthcare more difficult for Americans? Answer: tax cuts for the rich!
It’s really, above all, a campaign finance problem. We need an electoral system that won’t let the NRA and its like buy Congress and the state legislatures.
I seem to remember a time when anyone who was adjudged mentally deranged and a ‘danger’ to the community was incarcerated in a Mental facility until such time as that person was deemed sufficiently ‘rehabilitated’ to release back into the population. Yes, I realize that ‘solution’ was rife with deficiencies and problems but we still had a way of dealing with the mentally impaired other than giving them a pat on the head and a bottle of pills that we HOPE they remember to take! What we’re doing now isn’t enough because we’re not REALLY doing ANYTHING AT ALL! We are supposed to be happy that we can incarcerate the mentally ill AFTER they’ve committed an unspeakable act. Hand-wringing before the fact and outrage afterwards is not only useless but it’s overtly STUPID and COUNTERPRODUCTIVE! In the “old days” we used to have a ‘solution’ to this – surely in these ‘enlightened’ times we ought to be able to come up with some solution other than a"pat & a pill!"
Not making some rational regulations, per Anontin Scalia’s statements on the Second Amendment in DC vs Heller, is insanity. And, yes, I’m a gun owner who wants regulation of magazine size, and anything making a rifle full “auto”. Also solid background checks, repeated every four years and licensing of gun owners; it works well in New Zealand and yes they do have guns and some outstanding hunting as well as fishing.

It was ironic seeing him saying it’s a mental health issue. But I guess he should know.

I guess that’s why Republicans advocated allowing people with mental health problems to buy guns.

It is a gun problem and a mental health problem. We are insane for letting terrorists, the mentally ill and abusive people own assault riffles.

The republicans keep cutting the mental health budgets because billionaires need tax breaks.
