I am really, really, REALLY tired of hearing the same old tropes from the Second Amendment Fundamentalists, who have all failed to either READ the Second Amendment or read its history. Its current interpretation of “everyone gets as many guns as they want, wherever they want, regardless of the danger to the community or the person” is very, very recent.
DO NOT tell me that this has to be accepted, or somehow there is nothing we can do. We are the ONLY nation in the world that has this problem. There are plenty of proposed solutions that would protect the right of legitimate citizens to own and use guns.
Indeed, even if you think you have to have guns to protect yourself against the government (First: HAHAHAHA! Good luck dealing with an atomic weapon or tank; second, the Founders licensed people with guns in the militia, so they disagree), an enormous number of people kill themselves with guns — again, far more than anywhere else in the world. Just like opioids. Perhapas we should consider some REASONABLE limitations, hm?
First, to the “opioid crisis” – addiction was viewed as a Choice by the G.O.P. as long as only the poor and minorities were affected it evidently was considered their own fault that they were addicted, now that white republicans are becoming addicted to the more expensive prescriptive drugs (Rush Limbaugh, anyone?) it’s suddenly be described as a disease that the ‘poor babies’ are being subjected to by the mean ole ‘Others’!
A far as “Guns” are concerned – that’s just another “addiction” that is suffered by a certain segment of the G.O.P. that is aided and abetted by an incomplete and erroneous interpretation and understanding of the 2nd Amendment! It was never susposed to be any more than a call fo the establishment of State National Guards and has been totally subverted and perverted.
And then you have Donnie, that pushes daily on the dividing line between “neurosis” and “psychosis!”
I hear all you responsible gun owners are threatening the lives of survivors because you morons live for Alex Jones and think it was a fake to take your guns. What a bunch of animals you truly are!!
As a Pharmacist I and many others in my profession believe that doctors too freely prescribe opiods , a practice which is relenting with changes in laws and reeducating of the medical profession on pain relief. One problem which Florida faced when they cracked down on the pill mills was determining what was necessary use. Of coarse when you see a parking lot full of out of state tags that is a good indicator. Pain management clinics also need more strict rules to govern how and whom they write for.
Says the guy with the gun in your face, you have the right (wingnuts) approval to keep silent, and dead, whether opioids from big pharma, or a gun. NO way they’re going to refuse those nice campaing funs from either “friend of Congress”.
With a small screen, I first read the right-hand panel as “gin victim”. Didn’t seem to fit this particular cartoonist, so I looked more closely and discovered “gun victim”.

Two serious addictions that no self-respecting nation would allow to persist.

And now we have “people” claiming that the Las Vegas shootings were a hoax and harassing those who were shot on “social” media.

Victims? More than half are suicides. Most of the remainder are criminals killing criminals.
