It is always good to remember the person behind the counter is a human deserving of respect and courtesy. I saw an article about a cafe where the prices ran: “One small coffee”— $5.00; “One small coffee, please” — $3.00; “Hello, I’d like one small coffee please.” — $1.75. It seems reasonable to me.
