The first guy’s way is marginally better.
I did it with paper back in the day and still do it on PowerPoint, it’s easier to fix so I’ll keep my job.
Chalk it up to him getting board…
Reminds me of the popular sign, “Think Ahead!”, where the last few letters were squeezed in.
Ah…. The formula to explain how the size of text has to decrease in order to fit the entire formula on a finite surface.
