Astronomers are still bouncing lasers off of the mirrors left behind by the Apollo astronauts.

And hams have been making contacts with each other by bouncing radio signals off of the moon for decades.

I read an old SF story where a mogul gets a scientist to turn the starlight into billboards.

Eye surgery! Opthalmic surgeons will make out like bandits!

It makes a great cartoon. I’m satisfied.

There was one SiFi story I recall seeing the art for where advertisements were all over the place including the people, the clouds even over the Sun.

It would be more practical to make lunar eclipse signs that work during full moons. The signs would get between the sun and moon and cast shadows on the moon’s surface.
