Once upon a time, when skylights were used around here in schools and commercial buildings, Protective screens had to be built over them to prevent breakage from seagulls bombing the with clams in the attempt to bust them open.The school I was going to at the time had several broken, and they were expensive to replace. not to mention the clams hurt if they hit you .
