As a former mortgage broker, I can tell you late payments can lower your credit score substantially which many people don’t realize until they apply for credit. Take to your creditor prior to the payment due date if you expect a problem, although that may not help, at least they know you’re trying. If you’re in a position to pay all your bills on time but just forget, set up auto pay online or by phone if possible.
This must be the result from when Mrs. Pickles forgot to put the check in the envelope that Mr. Pickles took to the mailbox. They need to use bill pay on their bank’s website. I do and love it.

Up until recently all but one of my bills was paid online. Now they ALL are. No more late or overdue notices.
