Well, what can you expect when we had eight years of a president who was a Communist Socialist Fascist and probably a Muslim, who was born in Kenya, and was COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS!, and would have invaded Texas if not for the governor calling out the Texas Guard, and bankrupted the country with his bank bailout, and tripled the deficit in his first month in office and founded ISIS and caused Republicans to nominate Trump?
In the real US, the majority are unhappy with the Democrats and Republicans and as a result register as independent/unaffiliated. The wealthy have the greatest control of legislation no matter which neoliberal party “controls” Congress. The president instead of being an enabler of the common good aligns mostly with the one of the platforms of the parties, each of which only represent about 25% of the electorate leaving the real majority unrepresented.
This probably differs from the fact-free political view of the partisan left and partisan right who feel that only their views are acceptable for the whole of society and that any other opinions must be stifled.
