CEO’s need to make 450 times the wage of their employees or else they will die.

And yet the idea of raising minimum wage is bad for business has been disproved several times.

Which is why we’re asking for small minimum wage increases over a long period of time.

Yup, gotta keep that money free so the ceo’s can hoard it so they can afford to have the shocks on their Ferrari’s polished.

Breen has fallen for right wing mythology. There is lots of empirical evidence that MW hikes are not bad for business.

Can anyone name a business that ever failed because of a minimum wage hike? I can’t think of even one in the past 50 years. But, a lot sure have due to over priced incompetence at the top IE: Payless Cashways, Enron, Radio Shack etc. etc. It’s been proven time and again than a fair wage promotes employee loyalty. Go figure.

Cash-glutted CEO’s of companies that falter can count on golden parachutes even when they steer the businesses into bankruptcy with their incompetence, but won’t pay their employees a living wage – or require workers to perform tasks off the clock for NO pay.

Well geeez, why pay employees at all then? Just abolish that 13th Amdt and you will have full employment.

If a business cannot afford to pay its employees a livable wage and still make a profit, it’s not a viable business.

The “study” in question turns out to have cherry-picked data (it left out some 40% of jobs) and has very dubious methodology as well. Sorry, Breen, you should have read more.

In 1960, when I entered the work force, minimum wage was $1 an hour – $40 a week. A decent apartment was $60,and a new car about $2,600. today, a new car costs at least 10 times that much, and an apartment over $1,000 a month. Minimum wage is NOT keeping up. And notice, please, that the 60s were a time of great prosperity.

He paid a significantly higher wage than was standard at the time. It worked out pretty well for the Ford company…

The cartoon is cute and represents one of the tenets of Republican belief. Of course, like “trickle-down” economics, there’s absolutely no actual PROOF that it’s true, but it is their belief in the same way they “believe” that Climate Change is false. My grandmother used to refer to such beliefs as being “willfully ignorant” and her stance was that there was little cure for such overweening stupidity!

It is hard for the rich to get tax cuts AND be expected to raise your salary. What your funny graph doesn’t show is how much more is being manufactured, how much more profit is going to the top and how little the American worker is getting for their amazing work.

You here a lot of talk about trickle-down economics, but I say let’s try trickle-up economics. Put more money in at the lower ends and see if the money works its way up to the top.

Pay people at the bottom of the income ladder more and they will spend it, stimulating the economy. Tax cuts for the wealthy allow them to save more money, often in offshore accounts.

.Let’s look at Hostess. The executives went to the unions and asked them to take pay cuts for the health of the company – the unions agreed. The execs then congratulated themselves on a job well done by tripling the CEO’s salary and increasing exec pay overall by 85%. Then the execs went back to the union and said they should take another cut to avoid bankruptcy and when the union wouldn’t accept the new cuts, the company filed bankruptcy and execs blamed the unions. Hostess was losing money because people were looking for healthier options and the execs didn’t change with the times. So they caused the bankruptcy by not changing and still gave themselves huge raises. To add insult to injury, the execs also paid themselves retainer bonuses because they stayed while the company went through the bankruptcy proceedings.

Based on this cartoon, I think that to show his appreciation for his continued employment Mr.l Breen should cut his royalties by fifty percent. And if he doesn’t he is a typical lying Republican.

Don’t worry CEOs. Even after none of your customers can afford your product, you’ll still have fellow CEOs to sell to!
