He did not tape Comey, he was just trying to affect an investigation that was in progress. His false threat of tapes was designed to pressure Comey. His interference in an ongoing criminal investigation was an extraordinarily stupid blunder, by the president of the blunder party.
Either way, if you believe that a person only tells the truth because he believes that there may be a recording of the actual exchange is “interfering”
