I know two LA city cops I’d trust with my family’s life. They’d take a bullet for any of my Muslim, Latino, black, etc friends too. I get so damned depressed that I can’t bring myself to fully trust any other police. It’s more than sad, it’s just tragic.
Too many rust belt types don’t get the fact that many of the jobs that went offshore did so because of decisions made by while male business men who think of themselves as Christians. It appeals to a base mentality that the cause of their problem is some other people, a THEM. The rust belt people like to think, its the fault of people who are different than us “Real” American.
When I lived in Dallas many moons ago, I learned that whenever a (white) businessman told me he was a born again Christian, I needed to run as fast as I could in the opposite direction. God supposedly gives people who are “born again” a clean sheet to create mayhem wherever it is profitable. As long as they tithe to their local mega church.
