As the above, I wonder how many people who said they’d leave the country in Trump got elected actually left the country-other than on vacation. I wish more of them had.
Judging by the number of new gringo expats moving here, since last November, compared to the number from the previous four years, I was surprised at the uptick. It is not just here in Ecuador but in many other countries that is experiencing a upswing in the influx of people from the U.S.
I am not sure that Emperor Trump is the cause. I think he is the effect. As many, many more Baby Boomers slide into retirement, they are looking for retirement places away from the stress and strife in the U.S. and for places where they can get more bang for their buck. Thailand, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama are just some of the expat ‘hotspots’.
But don’t kid yourselves, Trompetistas. These expats still vote and thanks to the internet, are very much in touch with what’s happening “back home” and are very vocal about their political views AND THEY VOTE ! ( by absentee ballot ).
Judging by the expat websites, interestingly enough, I would say that the expats are pretty equally divided – just as the U.S. is.
HEY—Stay AWAY from POLITICS in the strip!!! You’re not an editorial cartoonist and this has never been a politic strip. They’re called the funnies because there should be a daily laugh—NOT and NEVER politics, which always have to have a spin one way or the other. I don’t care which way that spin goes—-I just don’t want politics in my strips. Stop it NOW or start losing customers (readers) one at a time. You are CARTOONISTS, not COMMENTATORS. Wise up!
