A little late, Kid, but a good idea any time. Doctor’s waiting room Friday: everyone looking at his/her phone – one guy had 2 – with very intense ’don’t bother me’ posture, also known as the Igor. With two exceptions: one person reading a book and who looked very content, and I, who observed the scene. Reminded me of the painting Room in New York by Edward Hopper, in which one sees 2 people in a very small room, but who are separated by an almost visible wall of silence.
Damn the silence. Damn the phones. I’ll strike up a conversation anywhere, anytime, with anyone, about anything! I have learned more about people and their lives than anything a device could show me. People have emotions. They are passionate about life and family. They share ideas, thoughts, and hobbies. Ok, I’ll get down off my soap box now. Everyone have a nice day & if you can, call or go see your folks today.
I know when that day was. It was the day two months ago when my family and friends and I all started sneezing and wheezing from all the pollen. We haven’t stopped yet.

I don’t mind having my phone to read a book in a doctor’s waiting room. I still don’t miss the budding of the trees. There is a time and place
