My wife’s grandmother had a postcard collection, many from the 1890’s. It was a shock to see what delivery used to be like — 24 hours between posting and delivery was slow! (It was common to arrange tomorrow’s appointments by postcard.)
One card had a hand-written apology from the postman for being late. Apparently the family had moved to a different town without leaving a forwarding address and it had taken two days for the postman to find the new address!
Just had to check on Walt, 5/11/2017, since the paper dropped this strip. I just wondered if Walt was still around as his wife died years ago. (also the strip stopped aging during the 70’s and 80’s so walt is not as old as his chronological age)

Another winner. I feel like him at times even though I have adapted to the new technological world.

Feel like him too when I find an old penny which on the back of it has the two leaves and says “ONE CENT”.

He has a post card received in 1902?? He would only have been 2 years old at the time.

Probably a clerical error. The Post Office was a mess even back then.
