@ J12M: As if Republicans’ agenda is any less frightening? As for Johnson/Weld, like they didn’t have an agenda? On the other hand, maybe Kevin78861 is right; J/W was too much of a “blank slate” to have an agenda. Of course, a blank slate is different than an empty head, which is what we got instead…

Today is about as cynical a strip as Scott has put out – without a bunny in it!

Pessimism is the perception things are worse than their objective reality; cynicism is seeing them as they are. And we are being screwed, but not in the good way.

You – or the world – wouldn´t be having it, no matter who else had won. It would be a completely different discussion.

We would not be worrying about a nuclear war starting at any time. anything is a step above that.I wish we weren’t locked into a 2 party system, but the powers that be wouldn’t have that at all.

@ Kaffekup: What a day it is when we actually agree with each other!

@ Pam Miner: Actually, the two party system has been a great stabilizer, usually helping centrist candidates in both parties rise to the presidency. But no more. Extremists have taken over both parties. Hillary was too conservative for many democrats; a rumor was that she had more support from Republicans than she did Democrats. Myself, I feared a Hillary victory with red coattails! As for the Republicans, well, Trump pretty much decimated anyone to the left of Attila the Hun. And we know what he did to Hillary.

I’d be happy to see a return of the two party system we once had! But centrist politicians can no longer get past the nominating and primary contests, and the candidates that do go forward have no appeal whatsoever to the other side of the aisle…

First Carmen as long as we have this damn Electoral College no 3rd party candidate can ever win. Obviously the popular vote doesn’t count for squat and with more Democrats concentrated in large cities and Republicans living in more rural areas guess whose vote carries more weight ? Finally unless both parties decide to play fair we’ll continue to have this deep division and nothing worthwhile will ever get accomplished as the 2 major parties lock out people like Gary Johnson and Bernie Sanders

The whole point of Johnson-Weld was to peel enough Republican voters away from his awfulness to give big H the victory. Too bad the media didn’t play its part and helped the odious one win.

we’d be wondering how long it would be until Social Security and Medicare were privatized.
