Sometimes it’s interesting to think of these with the literal minded common sense idea that Calvin is doing everything that he imagines Hobbes doing, and then think of how he’s doing it. Cutting his own hair is nothing compared to tying himself in a chair with the knots behind him.

Calvin IS telling the truth. Hobbes is an independent entity. Just because only Calvin can perceive him as such does not make it not so.
