Yeah, yeah, yeah, gloat all you want over the big showy stuff that’s happening right out where you can see it but ignore the stuff going on with the other hand: the destructive executive orders, the unfilled positions in the bureaucracy (or, worse, the ones that have been filled, but with the avowed enemies of their very own agencies), the theocratic Supreme Court nominee, and so on. Don’t you realize that distraction is the classic technique of the stage illusionist? Where’s I. F. Stone now that we really need him?
