    The problem is that Scotland is simply too small to go it alone. They are not large enough to raise an army, and will be sitting ducks for any rapacious country in the area. It would be impossible for them to resist and embarrassing to ask England to help. (And it won’t be the UK any more, either.)

    If Scotland goes for separation, it will be to remain with the EU. Ireland, still being in the EU, and North Ireland may also have conversations. It could end up with England/Wales as the small country going it alone…

    Plenty of buyers remorse in this country about voting for the insane tweeter. I wonder if there’s a lot of buyers remorse about Brexit?

    Wolf, A lot of it is wanting to stay part of the EU. The Scots have figured, probably rightly, that it is much more to their advantage to stay part of Europe than to join England in its isolationist plummet.
