@BlueFin – I read your comment yesterday. There’s quite an adventure going on in your yard.

When I got a CD player in 1989, I intended to replace all the albums I had previously gotten on poorly made prerecorded cassettes. Instead, few of those albums were released on CD, so I wound up getting a turntable and replacing them on lp. Invariably, the album would finally come out on CD just after I tracked down and purchased the lp copy. Now I’m getting rid of most of my lp collection because they’re just too big. I’m sure that will be right when my digital copies of the records will fail.

I like LPs for two reasons:

    1. There are a lot of albums, ranging from classic to obscure, that can only be found on LP.

    2. There’s something delightfully hypnotic about watching that black disc rotate while listening to the music.

Some music just sounds right on vinyl…it’s a sort of audible ambience.

Good thing in vinyls is/was possibility of printing lyrics and other info in covers. Including more and bigger image of cover art. But I always hated that turntable hassling and problems with needle. I got more lazy after mp3 came. Though I know, that there’s missing some hi-fi, mp3 is very handy for example in car audios. And now those are going more for usb -players. Maybe good in that way, that cd:s are not working always so well in car audios, but you can’t put much any info in usb-sticks, can you. All info you have then, is in your player screen. Well, one usb -stick is a big music storage. Some are able to play YouTube -music in car players, I’ve seen. I wonder, how are artists gonna get butter on their bread in the future…Concerts, tours, ads and t-shirts?
