    No, really… try it.

You might be surprised at the results.

Try helping by sitting down and shutting up.

Uh oh, I’m in trouble with the PC police now.

When someone says “I was just trying to help”, that is a big warning sign that something not very helpful occurred.

These comments are encouraging. Too often we hear about how Caulfield is the smartest guy in the room, and how he’s more insightful than the adults. But more often than not, he’s just disrespectful and disruptive. Whiteheron is right, IMO – sometimes Caulfield needs to just try “sitting down and shutting up.” And if the “PC police” take you away, Whiteheron, I’ll be happy to bail you out!

For a comic strip, some addled readers take it too seriously.

BigPuma…. I would actually think that most retired teachers would think of Caulfield and his actions today as being those of a damn brat.

    .

While Caufield is often intelligent, and is often humorous…. sometimes he pushes so much that he becomes unhumorous, and shifts into mean-spiritedness with his actions. Today, he jumped back into the mean-spirited zone.

    .

He is feigning being obtuse and not “knowing/understanding” a well known, oft-used phrase that is a euphemistic way to tell others it is getting rather noisy. When Caulfield’s character behaves in this sort of fashion, which he does on occasion, I find it annoying.
