I thought the dog was going to take a bite out of his backside, until I saw the puzzle piece in his mouth.

    Such a prankster.

    Or is this revenge?

Probably pay-back for all the times Howard pretended to throw the ball, but didn’t…

Spike, you could negotiate a pretty price in dog cookies for that piece!

Spike says, "I don’t give a hang what the clock says, it’s dinnertime!

Art imitating life. My (late) dog did the exact same thing to me and a jigsaw puzzle. Drove me nuts until I found where she had stashed it (inside her bed cushion, all chewed up).

I think Spike got jealous that Howard was giving all his attention to those little bits of something on the table, instead of to his nice warm furry dog.

Since dogs think our interest in things might mean they’re edible…

he grabbed one to have a taste.

    Ptui!

    Cardboard!

He would have put it back….

only a little worse for wear…..

But the resulting consternation and frantic activity on Howard’s part were way too much fun.

    Hahaha…catch me if you can!

    Twinkly Lights!

    Where ya bin?

    Seems like it’s been years!

Perhaps it was puzzle of nice, crisp, bacon. Who could resist that?

It took a while for my dog to figure out that not everything I dropped was edible.

The jig was up, when a puzzled Howard saw the final piece in Spike’s mouth.

    Mornin Ballardeers

The ole Capt. is back ( a little the worse for wear ), having survived another Carnaval in Ecuador. Surviving the juegos de agua ( water games ) is similar to coming through a summer hurricane.

One has to be prepared to be bombed with a water balloon, tossed from anywhere by anyone, including sweet old ladies. Fend of attacks of well armed little grommets with super-soakers, squirt guns, or just pots of water !

Plastic swimming pools are ubiquitous – in front of people’s homes, in the streets, on the sidewalks and on the rooftop patios.

One way or the other, everyone is going to get wet !

And you need the water to wash off the prodigious numbers of canisters of colored spray foam squirted at you. Everyone is packin’ cans of the gooey stuff ! ( I went through about a half dozen cans myself )

In some areas, bags of flour and eggs are also hurled with joyous disregard.

All off this mayhem is accompanied by a cacophony of music, shouting and laughter – often aided and abetted by the copious amounts of cerveza consumed

While several cities have their Carnaval Parades with floats and costumed participants, and crowds of celebrants, I prefer the chaos and cacophony of the neighborhood impromptu festivities.

Think Ballard Street with a Spanish accent !
