Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer asks George to wait for him for two minutes. Jerry warns George, “Believe me, I know his two minutes. By his conception of time, his life will last over two thousand years.”
I remember hanging one of my actual socks. Things that were too big for the sock but too small for the tree got placed on the step below the sock (we didn’t have a mantle; the 7 of us kids would have our socks down the stair railing).
