“Climb Every Mountain” was sung by one of the most beautiful Alto voices ever in a musical, Ms. Peggy Wood.

In an interview I read many years after the film was released, one of the von Trapp family suggested that belting out “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” while it put an emotional button on the movie, was not the smartest thing to do while fleeing over the Alps to escape the Nazis. She had a point.
