Whatever – I hope each of you and the commenters who will follow will have a great New Year. I also look forward to future strips and the commentaries. They brighten my day, regardless of the subject.

The Red Sox won’t live up to the hype – again – but they’ll still finish ahead of the Yankees.

Back in the 1970’s I was stationed just outside Boston. I made a lot of money on the Red Sox – betting against them.

Talking or watching the Kardashians is like talking dirty or watching cheap porn

“There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.” ~ Oscar Wilde

In 2017, let’s do the right thing and not talk about the Kardashians. Maybe they will go away.

Thomas Huxley said the same thing and called it agnosticism; then the media went to work and redefined it as “Duh, I don’t know whether God exists or not.” Either you have read Huxley’s essay or taught by someone who had. NG has done neither.

I was surprised several months ago when NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” news quiz had Kim Kardashian as its “Not My Job” guest. She turned out to be smart, funny, and very much in on the joke that is “celebrity.” She seemed quite aware that she’s famous for nothing more than being famous, and intended to laugh all the way to the bank.

What do you get when you cross an agnostic, an insomniac, and a dyslexic? Someone who lies awake at night wondering if there really is a Dog.

Who said anything about not believing in God (although some will now)? Huxley praised God during the famous debate with “Soapy” Wilburforce. As a duly ordained (by a real bishop, not mail order) I certainly do. However, for both of us, it is based on faith revealed to us in our life experiences, and not by the scientific method. However, I find the scientific method superior to faith in understanding the Upper Cretaceous fossils my clergy father discovered. Look how faith has distorted climate deniers understanding of the threat we face, and how a lack of faith has damaged atheists’ understanding of faith.

Hmm night dick I remember when it was the Ice age coming again. Now heat caused by us. Even though the planet has changed climates a few times over the years. But in your arrogance it has to be humans fault. Get over yourself.
