    The Indians had repeaters and the soldiers only had single shot breach loaders. The big mistake was that Custer left his two gatlin guns back at camp because they would slow him down. It would have made quite a difference.

    Custer’s biggest enemy was his own ego. His West Point roommate, Tully McCrae, once wrote of him: “He is one of the best-hearted and cleverest men that I ever knew. The great difficulty is that he is too clever for his own good.” He was also the most photgraphed general from the Civil War, which leads one to believe that he was quite the narcissist.

    I don’t understand why everyone is so hard on Custer; after all, he did take a stand!
